The Department of State Services has nabbed a 14-year-old boy spying for dreaded sect, Boko Haram, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
A statement on Friday by the DSS said the boy was arrested on August 24, 2015.
The statement said the arrest of the boy, in conjunction with security officials of the airport, was a disruption to the spying network mounted by the Boko Haram terrorists.
The name of the suspect was given as Sulaiymon Abdulraman, popularly known as Sunday Ajayi.
Abdulraman hails from Kogi State.
He disclosed among others that he infiltrated the airport with the assistance of one Dauda Sadiq, also known as Peter, who is presently at large.
Abdulraman said Sadiq directed him to spy on the airport and pass to him information in respect of travelers’ movement, including passenger screening, boarding procedures and other processes in the departure and arrival halls.
The statement by the DSS added: “With this knowledge, the Service is working closely with major Aviation stakeholders especially the Aviation Security Department to forestall any possible attack and to ensure adequate security at the airports. This is aside other measures which have been put in place to ensure protection of lives and property across the country.
“However, the DSS wishes to use this opportunity to remind members of the public to remain vigilant and patriotic by being security conscious at all times. Also, the public is urged to report all issues and persons of suspicion to the nearest security agency. The public is further enjoined to assist with information that could be useful in stamping out insecurity with a view to making Nigeria safe.”
